History Description
The address was changed in December 2015 due to the Woodbine Ave By-Pass. This building was constructed c.1870 as a Temperance Hall serving the community of Victoria Square. Its use evolved into the Victoria Square Public Hall administered by a group of local trustees. The property was not officially sold to the Trustees by the Heise family until 1918. The Public Hall was in use until the early 1960s when it was replaced by the present Victoria Square Community Hall on Elgin Mills Road East. The old building’s façade was updated with mock Tudor stucco in the 1970s.
