History Description
The Crown granted the original patent for Lot 7, Concession 10 to Alexander Legg in 1802. Peter Reesor acquired all 200 acres in 1815. He sold the west 100 acres to Ira White in 1825. White was married to Elizabeth Reesor, daughter of Peter Reesor. Son Truman White established the mills of Whitevale, Township of Pickering. Ira White established a grist mill on the Little Rouge circa 1840. White is shown as the owner of Lot 7, on the McPhillips map (1853-54) and Tremaine's map (1860). The illustrated Historical Atlas (1878) indicates that he still owned all of Lot 7 with exception of the east part. No buildings are shown on the west part of the lot along Reesor Road in 1878. Charlotte White, White's daughter-in-law and wife of Benjamin White, acquired the west half of Lot 7 in 1881. The represent stucco house may be the two storey brick house noted as the White's family's dwelling in the Census (1891). Thomas Pugh bought the remainder of the west half in 1892 and leased the property to local farmers. The Census (1901) notes the James Malcolm family as tenants of a two storey brick house on Lot 7, Concession 10.
