History Description
Anne Preston was born in 1810 and came to Canada in 1830, as a housekeeper for Dr. John Reid. She was known as a devout Methodist, and acquired the nickname of Holy Anne. The house was built in 1848 at the northeast corner of Yonge and Elgin. It was given to Holy Anne by her employer, Dr Reid. In 1900, William Horde bought the house and moved it to its present site. The Horde family lived in it until 1946.
