She was known as a devout Methodist, and acquired the nickname of Holy Anne. The house was built in 1848 at the northeast corner of Yonge and Elgin. It was given to Holy Anne by her employer, Dr Reid. In 1900, William Horde bought the house and moved it to its present site.
