History Description
In August 1804, William Willcocks purchased the east half of Lot 14, Concession 3 from Francis Schmidt (a Berczy Settler) and called this handsome farm "Millbrook". On March 1, 1806, W. Willcocks mortgaged 100 acres of the property to Robert Hamilton, founder of Hamilton. Willcocks died in 1813, leaving the farm to his grandsons Robert (9 years) and Henry (6 years) (1807-1820) administered by their father until they came of age. In May 1842, Robert Baldwin mortgaged the property to William Proudfoot either for grist mill construction of to further his political career. (Also see 9046 Woodbine Avenue) This property was restored and redeveloped in 2020-2021 as part of a new development which includes 33 new townhouse unites.
